me: oh shoot, i think i left all the swim diapers in chelan

brian: oh, thats okay. she already went poop this morning.

me: well, sometimes she goes poop like 4 times a day.

brian: oh its fine. she's only going to be in the pool for a little while.

cut to 10 minutes later

me: finley's bottom looks so cute without a diaper on!

me: it's so cute. i should probably take a picture.

me: hmmmm. that kinda looks like her "pooping position"...

finley is a climber! yeah, you read that right...

Grandpa brought over Finley's little climbing cube-outdoor toy-thingy this morning and boy is it a hit. It turns out Finley had a undiscovered talent. SHE CAN CLIMB! She took off and crawled her way up the slide 3 times. I couldn't believe it. Okay, okay...so the slide is only like two feet long. But still, I was very proud. She even seemed to get that she shouldn't go near the drop off. What a fun toy, and to think it only cost $5 from a garage sale! Can't beat that with a stick!

2. travel
3. tithe/give to organizations that we are passionate about
4. build our dream deck and get some really nice patio furniture
5. have brian quit/and or scale back on the 60 hour work weeks

5 bad habits:
1. snacking when I’m not hungry
2. not hanging clean clothes back up after I try them on
3. neglecting to wash dishes better before loading them in the dishwasher
4. drinking too much diet soda and not enough water
5. not treating stains right away

5 places I have lived:
1. carnation, wa
2. seattle, wa
3. vancouver, bc

anger is so unattractive!!!

Earlier today I was cruising around Target with Finley in the cart. I was singing a song to Finley while she clapped along. I was all the sudden snapped out of my maternal bliss when I heard someone yell, "UGGGHHH. Watch where you're going!" Now, just for the record...I did not run into the lady, nor did she have to move out of the way. Apparently I was just too close for her comfort. I just stood there completely gobsmacked. It really rattled me and I found myself feeling the same way as when I see a driver flipping someone off on the road. I'm sure part of me feels upset because i don't like when people are mean to me, but mostly I just can't believe that people are that angry. I mean, can you imagine the life that those people lead? It's a little frightening that some people are so quick to anger to such trivial things. And if that's how they treat strangers in public, I wonder how they treat people in private! It's sad, really. And it makes me want to examine my own temper. Anger can really be nasty!

On a lighter note....the hubby and I were able go out this weekend sans Finley. We went to a piano bar and had a grand ol' time celebrating a friends birthday and singing our hearts out to all the classics. It was SO SO SO refreshing to spend time with Brian and other adults. With him working round the clock we've really come to appreciate couple time. Here we are before heading out...
And here we are at about 11:00. Bedtime!

don't read this if you don't like blood!

So yesterday I cut my finger with the pineapple slicer. It was a real bleeder. I cried and then called Brian for some sympathy. I guess he had to one-up me because later in the day he did this with his chop saw.

I'm not sure if you can tell, but there is a large hunk of finger missing. And would he go and get it looked at? Of course not. PTL he didn't lose a finger!

cars, gymnastics, and a finley update

This weekend the sun finally came out and we were able to enjoy an evening out in our yard. When blowing bubbles and watching the pinwheel got old I said "hey do we have any outdoor toys in the garage?" After several minutes Brian comes running out with this car, which is probably intended for a child much old than finley. We took her for a spin around the yard, but she wasn't sure what to think about. Brian and I sure got a chuckle out if it though. Then Brian got a bright idea and he wanted to see if he could fit in it. Long story short..he can. It was quite hilrious, and even more hilarious to watch him squeeze out if it. As if the wheels weren't wonky enough before!

After the car fiasco, we decided to have a gymnastics competition. Brian is actually pretty good for being the world's most inflexible person. Mysteriously, the video of me was deleted while he was looking through the photos on the camera. I think he was just intimidated by my straight lines and flawless landing.

So, now that Finley is a whoppin 8 months old I thought I'd share some of her new talents and quirks.

She:
-learned to clap
-made it through a whole church service in the nursery with no crying!!!
-loves to crawl straight to the bathroom on a hunt for her favorite bath toys
-can walk while holding onto the couch
-leans in for kisses
-has become extremely cuddly
-loves to play with paper
-loves to eat ANYTHING and EVERYTHING, especially if its mixed with mama's homemade yogurt
-is a real terror on the changing table
-has taken to waking up quite early in the morning
-gets super excited when papa walks in the door at night
-she loves to have her face cleaned after eating-no joke
-loves to stand up at the t.v. stand and play with all the buttons
-is staying up for much longer periods of time
-is phasing out of her evening nap-unfortunately now dinner is not nearly as easy to prepare!
-said goodbye to the green hospital binky and now prefers a much prettier one in my opinion
-loves playing peek-a-boo behind her blanket

Anywho, thats the happenings with our little bon bon. This age is so much fun (aren't they all) and she certainly keeps us on our toes!

much to celebrate!

Early friday morning one of my oldest and closest friends gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Isabella is the cutest, tiniest (6 lbs 9 0z) thing I have ever seen. Both families spent hours in anticipation in the waiting room. We were pacing back and forth outside their door hoping to hear some crying-from the baby...not mom. Just for the record, I won the bet about what time she would be born. I was only 4 minutes off! I would post some pictures of her, but I figured mom and dad would want to be the ones to announce their daughter to the world via the internet.

Oh, and all the nostalgia made me feel the yearning for another baby. and then, about two seconds later i changed my mind. not yet...

As if a new baby wasn't exciting enough we also attended our cousin Lisa's wedding. Lisa and Brian got married at the Fall City Farms and it was an absolutely beautiful garden wedding. How did I not know that this gorgeous place was only 5 minutes away from where I grew up? Keeping up with the family tradition we dined on Armenian food...we laughed as we looked around wondering what the other guests must be thinking about the interesting food. As an outsider I will admit that it is an acquired taste. PTL the rain cleared up and we were able to really enjoy all that the farm had to offer-including the poopy smell which I mistakenly thought was coming from Finley several times throughout the night. Pictures are in the album...
